Whose face doesn't love a good exfoliation? I know mine does. Exfoliating your face serves many key functions. It helps unclog pores and prevent blackheads from forming. It also improves skin turnover which keeps it looking radiant and fresh. Although skin types vary from person to person, I recommend exfoliating 1-2 times per week. This all-natural and affordable DIY makes that easy to do.
Four simple ingredients make up this brown sugar face scrub. Each ingredient boasts multiple health benefits that gives your skin that much needed TLC. .
What's so great about these ingredients?
BROWN SUGAR
Brown sugar is a great exfoliant for the face and a great alternative to salts, which can be harmful to the sensitive skin on the face. Brown sugar contains glycolic acid which penetrates the skin cells and encourages cell turnover, leaving the skin looking and feeling refreshed. Brown sugar is has a natural humecant property, meaning it absorbs moisture in the air and releases it into your skin when applied, ensuring well-hydrated skin.
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) has many naturally occurring vitamins and minerals such as vitamin E and K. It is full of polyphenols which rejuvenate aging skin and provide anti-inflammatory benefits. EVOO also contains an important component called squalene which promotes skin elasticity and diminishes age spots.
