How to Build a Basic Skincare Routine

Taking care of your skin is an essential part of maintaining a healthy and radiant complexion. With the overwhelming number of skincare products available today, it can be challenging to determine which ones are essential for a basic skincare routine.

Don't be deterred by the interenet - you don't need an 18 step skincare routine to achieve glowing skin. In this blog, we will explore the must-have products that should be included in your daily skincare regimen, ensuring that you lay the foundation for healthy skin.

1. Cleanser:

A good cleanser is the cornerstone of any skincare routine. It helps remove dirt, oil, and impurities that accumulate on your skin throughout the day. Look for a gentle cleanser that suits your skin type, whether it's dry, oily, or combination. A cleanser with a balanced pH level will help maintain your skin's natural moisture barrier and prevent dryness.

2. Toner:

A toner is often misunderstood or skipped, but it can provide valuable benefits to your skin. Toners help balance the skin's pH level, remove any remaining impurities, and prepare your skin for better absorption of subsequent products. Look for toners with hydrating and soothing ingredients, such as rosewater or chamomile, that can leave your skin feeling refreshed.

Our Hydrating Face Toner is made with lavender, witch hazel, and rose for a balanced complexion.

3. Moisturizer:

Hydration is key to maintaining healthy skin, regardless of your skin type. A moisturizer helps replenish and lock in moisture, preventing dryness, and keeping your skin supple. Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin's needs, whether it's lightweight for oily skin or richer for dry skin.

Our Nourishing Face Oil is our recommended daytime moisturizer, while our Ageless Face Night Oil is perfect for skin regeneration over night.

4. Sunscreen:

Protecting your skin from the harmful effects of the sun is crucial to maintaining its health and preventing premature aging. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day, even on cloudy days. Sunscreen shields your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, reducing the risk of sunburn, dark spots, and wrinkles.

5. Exfoliator:

Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and promote cell turnover for a brighter complexion. You can rotate between a physical exfoliator (gentle scrub) and a chemical exfoliator (products containing alpha or beta hydroxy acids). However, avoid over-exfoliating, as it can irritate your skin. Limit exfoliation to once or twice a week.

Our Exfoliating Facial Polish is a gentle physical exfoliant that can be used 1-2 times per week.

Building a basic skincare routine doesn't have to be complicated. By incorporating these essential products—cleanser, toner, moisturizer, sunscreen, and exfoliator—you'll be well on your way to achieving healthy, radiant skin. Remember, consistency is key in skincare, so make sure to follow your routine diligently to reap the benefits. As you become more familiar with your skin's needs and concerns, you can gradually introduce additional products and target specific concerns. Here's to healthier and happier skin!
