How To Incorporate Olive Oil Into Your Skincare Routine

So, you’ve learned all about the skin healing benefits of extra virgin olive oil and you’re ready to incorporate it into your regime, but you’re overwhelmed at how to start. We’re here to help. And if you haven’t yet learned about all the skin loving benefits, click here to find out

The skin is the largest organ of the body, so let’s take care of it as such. Extra virgin olive oil provides ample antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids to keep your skin healthy and happy. We’re gonna focus on the body, the face, and the lips today. Here are three simple ways to start to incorporate extra virgin olive oil into your skincare routine:

1. Replace or combine your body lotion with a body oil made primarily from olive oil.

Nothing feels as luxurious as slathering high quality extra virgin olive oil all over your body after getting out of the shower - just our opinion. Body oil will lock in hydration and create a barrier on top of your skin so you stay moisturized all day long. Plus if you’re into essential oils, it smells divine. If you have dry skin, layering body oil on top of body lotion is a great way to lock in moisture (especially in the winter).

2. Replace or combine your face moisturizer with a face oil made primarily from olive oil.

Face oil works in a similar way to body oil, but the skin on our faces works a little differently. Whereas the body oil we produce is mostly olive oil, our face oils start with an olive oil base, but then we mix in a variety of essential and nutritive oils to make you extra glowy. For example, our Ageless Face Night Oil is made with bakuchi oil: a natural retinol substitute. Those with sensitive skin who aren’t able to tolerate pharmaceutical grade retinol have no problem with bakuchi oil, and a 2019 study found no difference in the efficacy of bakuchi oil in the treatment of wrinkles and fine lines. Similarly to our body oil, if you have especially dry skin, layer a few drops of our face oil on top of a water based moisturizer.

3. Replace your petroleum based chapstick with a lip loving natural lip balm

Incorporating an olive oil based lip balm into your skincare routine is probably the easiest way to start using olive oil in your regime. Plus, it’s no chore either: our natural lip balms are seriously the best. Our lip balms are made from extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, red raspberry seed oil, and essential oils.
